Fundraiser
October 29, 2009Thank you to an incredible and amazing friend that I met yesterday hours before all of my equipment was stolen. If you know me, you know that all of this publicity is excruciating for me…. I hate attention and I’ve always had a hard time excepting help. So in saying that, posting about a fundraiser on my blog is even harder. If photography was only a passion I may have never posted this, but it was more then that. It was an income for my family. And therefore, my wonderful friend Dustin Izatt has set up a fundraiser to earn enough to help my family get back on their feet….. So if you would like to donate you can visit his blog here: Dustin Izatt
I was contacted by KSL today for a press release. I’m going to do it in hopes that maybe someone saw something, and we can catch these criminals once and for all……. More importantly, I hope all photographers who hear this will please take the time to take the extra precautions. I had a sense of security, my car was locked, my equipment was hidden, but I didn’t suspect someone was following me.
Thank you to everyone, I’ve had calls pouring in from California, Minnesota, Massachusetts, most of the people I have never met, but they have offered to help in any way they can. Once again, I’m thankful to belong to one of the greatest communities in the world, and thank you for those of you that realize the depth of the hurt……..

Next time use some common sense and realize that living in Utah does not mean you can leave things of value in your car. I hear way too many of these stories about girls that leave their gear alone and expect thing to be ok. It’s hard to feel sorry for you.

Rusty, Come on man, that has to be the most shallow and careless comment ever. Heidi didn’t just leave her gear laying around, some thieving scumbag followed her after the temple and then busted into her car to steal the gear. If you are going to make such bold comments, why not be so bold to leave your real email address and your full name? Utah or no Utah, I am going to do everything I can to help Heidi. We all have made mistakes and I believe in Karma, what comes around goes around. I too was followed in the temple parking lot and I was lucky because I went straight home and then straight to the luncheon and took my gear with me, but it could’ve easily happened to me as well. Show some sympathy because if this happens to you, you won’t be getting any sympathy from any of us. This is not her fault and if I had $20,000 I’d give it to her in a heart beat.

Rusty, that is the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard in my life. Ever.
If you’re as dumb, cowardly and irrational in person as you are on the internet, I hope I never have to have the displeasure of meeting you in real life.
If you had paid ANY attention to ANYTHING Heidi has said so far, you’d know that she wasn’t leaving her gear “laying around”. As Dustin said, she was FOLLOWED.
More importantly, she was followed for an EXTENSIVE period of time over a relatively long distance as they waited for just the right moment to pounce.
My house was broken into in March of this year and about $10k worth of camera gear was stolen. I probably shouldn’t have been so naive as to leave my gear lying around in my house too, right?
You imbecile.
